This amazing bi-plane has been made by artisans in South Africa.
The item is just one of a range which has been made in the South African tradition of making crafts from recycled materials, such as discarded wire and tin cans gathered from taxi stands and bus stations, incorporating beads in their designs.
As the demand has grown for such items, apprentices have been trained in the art of weaving tin, paying them a fair price for the products that they produce. The training and production provides a sustainable income for a growing number of young people in Cape Town.

Made from steel wire and long thin colorful strips of recycled aluminum cans.
The propeller and wheels turn, and it has a hook for hanging.
The plane measures approx 24cms in length and 11cms in height.
